Book Hangovers

All Hanna Euli wants is to become a proper witch – but unfortunately, she’s stuck as an apprentice to a grumpy fisherman. When their boat gets caught up in a mysterious storm and blown wildly off course, Hanna finds herself further away from home than she’s ever been before.

As she tries to get back, she learns there may be more to her apprentice master than she realized, especially when a mysterious, beautiful, and very non-human boy begins following her through the ocean, claiming that he needs Hanna’s help.

This is the first book I've read by Cassandra Rose Clark and honestly the only reason why I was intrigued to read this one is b/c of her previous books and well....because of it's cover.

I mean... It's pretty damn wicked!

Sadly. I can not say the same about this story!!! 

I didn't think it was horrible by any means. It is, however, slow.... 

Though the world building was done very well, I felt that the characters lacked any depth. The ideas and plot of the story was interesting, just not executed well enough. 

My advice for anyone who's going to read this book: make sure you have patience.

I don't usually read a lot of contemporary but I heard great things about JoJo Moyes and thought I'd give this book a chance. Well, here I am 18 hours later to tell you that I truly enjoyed this story and I'm so glad I requested the arc.

One Plus One is one huge journey of trial and tribulation. Proving that no matter the choices we make, big or small, there are always repercussions to pay. But hey, we all make mistakes right? and then we learn from them.

I found this story to be well written and highly entertaining. I enjoyed how each of the four main characters tell the story from their perspective, so we get to view the story from their eyes.

Moyes does a fantastic job writing about family and relationship. Making a perfect blend of self-discovery, romance, humor and realism.

I definitely recommend this to everyone. Now I need to go back and check out all of JoJo Moyes past books, see what I've been missing out on :(

This book was.... 

Nice

 I mean I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it. I thought some parts were slower than other but in no way did that take anything away from it. Once it got going I found it to be irresistibly entertaining.

I appreciated how there was no Insta-Love connection between the two main characters. The author took her time letting them adjust to the setting and surroundings, especially in the new "situation" they found themselves in. With the romance being so subtle, we got to learn more about the culture and political aspects of the story. While their love was building, the plot was thickening, leading us to one hell of a twist.

There's action and betrayal. A slow burning, believable romance and an unpredictable ending that will have readers craving more. I'm very pleased with this lovely and thrilling start to a new series, and I'm interested to see what the next installment has in store for us.

This was just Fun!!
Cinderella would be proud!!

Inventive and Invigorating. Surprisingly original and refreshing for a fairy tale retelling!

I really did love this story. Even if the world building fell short, just a tiny bit, it certainly didn't take any thing away from the awesomeness of the story :) I loved all the characters, the bad ones, the sick ones, the androids and even the stepsisters. 

I especially loved Cinder's character. Even with grease stained clothes and cyborg parts. She is just a teenage girl, who's witty and smart, and a highly skillful mechanic. She faces strenuous obstacles like a fatal plague, a persistent Prince and an unpleasant Stepmother. All she wants to do is run away from it all but she can't..... 
Not after what she has just found out!

Her world is on the brink of an Intergalactic war with the Lunars. Cinder is caught in the middle of it all and we won't know what will happen because of the bloody cliffhanger!

That's okay! hahaha I have the next book, which I've already started reading (and love so far)
That's one good reason why I'm glad it took me so long to read this series. Now I don't have to wait for the next... OH WAIT!!!!!
There's one more book. "Winter" and it doesn't come out til next year. 

I guess I'll just try and read the rest of Scarlet and Cress really 
Reeeaaalllyyy sllloooowwwwwwlllyyy....

But seriously, If you haven't read this book yet, I highly recommend that you do! A simply spectacular story!! And if you get the chance, listen to it on audio. I listened to it while driving in my car. Half the time I found myself parked in my driveway after running errands just listening away. It's extremely entertaining!!!

Okay...I was a bit disappointed with this one, only because it was one of my anticipated debuts/releases of 2014.

The concept alone was intriguing and unique enough to keep me going and also I fell in love with the main character, Nathan, rather rapidly that I just had to keep following him on his journey.

A witch born with both white and black witch in him, Nathan was shunned away from everyone except for his family. On a journey to find himself and his father, Nathan is bullied, viciously beaten, held captive in a cage...I mean I give the author credit for keeping it real and brutal because that's just what it is. Heart-less and cruel!! I felt myself weeping inside for Nathan, for the wickedness he suffered.

There is a little bit of light for Nathan when he meets Annalise. But that is soon short lived because she is a Pure blooded white witch, forbidden to have anything to do with a black witch. I understand the author having written a love interest for Nathan. Giving him some hope but I found the whole romance lacking and kinda irrelevant. I did't find a real connection between the characters. 

I felt like this whole book was just a build up for the second book. I'm sure it'll turn out better this one. Do I even want to read the next book?!?! I don't know yet....we'll see.

Half Bad by Sally Green= 3 Stars

This book is ridiculously good! Amazing! Hands down one of the best things I've ever read! It really does "take the cake"!

There's no surprise that I'm a HUGE fan of fantasy, especially High/Epic fantasy. One that involves magic and distant lands, Kingdoms and brutal battles. This one HAS. IT. ALL !!!!

This story is told in three POV's and in 3rd person. You would think that would make the story somewhat confusing and jumbled up but it is well constructed that you'll easily understand. Cleo, Jonas and Magus are each from a different Kingdom in the land of Mythica, and each come with their own twist in this story. Their separate lives are soon intertwined with each others. These characters suffer and witness love and hate, magic and myths all while a ruthless, vicious war is brewing. Leaving readers wondering what will happen now that the Kingdoms have fallen.

I highly recommend that everyone read this. It's one hell of a story. Fast pace and fun to read. Thrilling and intense. Super brutal and the battle scene is WHEW! Talk about Gore!!!

I'm eager to read the second book, Rebel Spring! So eager with excitement that as soon as I finished this one this morning (at 6:30 am) I went and got it at Walmart! It's all mine....ALL MINE!

(I read this back in January and forgot to post my review on booklikes. So here it is. I guess because this book was so, eeehhhhhh, I forgot all about the review. Whoops)

It took a lot for me to finish this book. Thank GAH, like one of the character's says, it was a really easy book to read! "Don't cha know"

I was interested at first because it was about a murder in a small town. I like some mystery and suspense, a bit of a thriller. So I checked it out from the library. Glad I didn't buy it b/c I was happy to return this one!

It's about a murder in a small town called Friendship, Wisconsin. Kippy Bushman's best friend, Ruth has been murdered and with the help of Ruth's diary, Kippy does her own investigation to find the real murderer.
It was so cheesy right from the start and I basically knew who the killer was a couple chapters in. I found the characters to be really immature. You'd expect that, maybe, from the younger characters but from the adult characters too??!?!?! What was up with all the nick names Kippy's dad gave her. Pimple? Pickle? Cactus?!! 

This book was definitely not my cup of tea and I really wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Guess it's not all bad since now, Townsville has the perfect little super heroes.

Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, oh how I love these cute and colorful super heroes. So many memories swarmed my mind when reading this but I didn't go too far down memory lane being that I've already done that!! Having daughter's at home watching The Powerpuff Girls on Netflix, bringing back some old school toons into my home makes me a happy mommy.

And that is what made me want to read The Powerpuff Girls Volume 1 by Troy Little. I enjoyed it and so did my daughters, tremendously, over and over again!!!

This illustration was vivid and bright just like I was watching it on my big screen. And the story was fun and kickass! With familiar villains like MoJo Jojo, seemed to have "turned a new leaf" but you know with these vicious masterminds, there always a evil plan up their sleeves. Leave it to the Powerpuff Girls! They'll know what to do.

Loved by my girls and I, this gets 4 out of 5 stars
